About Me

I am a native Arkansan, born near Rohwer in SE Arkansas, and proud of it. I graduated magna cum laude from the University of Arkansas at Monticello and retired after teaching 30 years, mostly in Special Education and math. Then I began a new career as a volunteer in numerous civic organizations and historic preservation causes. I was named “Woman of the Year” in 2008 by the Drew County/Monticello Chamber of Commerce and I have also served two terms as Chairperson of the Arkansas History Commission.
I enjoy “writing”, producing a weekly historical column for local news media, and have also won three state awards from the Arkansas Historical Association for articles published in the Drew County Historical Journal.
I have been married to former Drew County Judge Damon Lampkin for 45 years. We have no children, but I have 3 cats, Patches, Fluffy and Autumn. We are members of Second Baptist Church in Monticello where I teach an Adult Sunday School class.
